Easy Brunch Bake Recipe - Cooking Index
Prepare this casserole the night before, and simply pop it in the oven the next morning.
Serves: 4 people1 cup | 198g / 7oz | Fat-free egg substitute |
1 cup | 237ml | Skim milk |
4 oz | 113g | Italian bread - cubed |
3/4 cup | 177ml | Sliced cooked turkey sausage |
3/4 cup | 109g / 3.8oz | Shredded reduced-fat sharp cheddar cheese |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Freshly-ground black pepper |
3 | Canned whole pimientos - drained, julienned |
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray an 8-inch square baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.
In a medium bowl, combine the egg substitute and milk. Add the bread, sausage, half of the cheese and the pepper; stir until all of the bread is moistened.
Pour the mixture into the pan; sprinkle evenly with the remaining cheese. Bake until the top is golden and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean, about 40 minutes. Serve, garnished with the pimientos.
