1 cup | 62g / 2.2oz | All-purpose flour |
3/4 cup | 148g / 5.2oz | Sugar |
6 tablespoons | 90ml | Cocoa - divided |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Baking powder |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Salt |
1/2 cup | 118ml | Milk - skim |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Canola oil |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Vanilla extract |
1 cup | 160g / 5.6oz | Brown sugar - packed |
1 3/4 cups | 414ml | Hot water |
In a medium mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, 2 tablespoons cocoa, and salt. Stir in the milk, oil and vanilla until smooth.
Spread in an un-greased 9-inch square baking pan. Combine brown sugar and remaining cocoa; sprinkle over batter.
Pour hot water over all; do not stir. Bake at 350F for 35-40 minutes. Serve warm. Top with whipped cream or ice cream if desired.
