Apple Bread Recipe - Cooking Index
| 1/2 cup | 99g / 3.5oz | Margarine |
| 2/3 cup | 131g / 4.6oz | Sugar |
| 2 | Eggs - slightly beaten | |
| 1 teaspoon | 5ml | Vanilla |
| 2 cups | 125g / 4.4oz | Flour |
| 1 teaspoon | 5ml | Baking powder |
| 1 teaspoon | 5ml | Baking soda |
| 1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Salt |
| 1 teaspoon | 5ml | Cinnamon |
| 2 cups | 474ml | Coarsely-grated pared green apple |
| 1/2 cup | 73g / 2.6oz | Walnuts - chopped |
| 1 tablespoon | 15ml | Grated orange peel or lemon peel |
In a medium bowl, beat margarine, sugar and eggs together until light. Sift dry ingredients together and alternately add with the apple, nuts and orange rind to the cream mixture. Batter will be quite stiff.
Turn into a well greased 9- by 5- by 3-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until done.
This recipe yields 1 loaf.
