Forrest's French-Fried Shrimp Recipe - Cooking Index
2 lbs | 908g / 32oz | Unpeeled medium-size fresh shrimp |
1 cup | 62g / 2.2oz | All-purpose flour |
1 1/2 teaspoons | 7.5ml | Baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Salt |
2/3 cup | 157ml | Water |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Lemon juice |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Vegetable oil |
1 tablespoon | 15ml | Egg - lightly beaten (large) |

Peel shrimp, leaving trails intact; devein, if desired. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl. Add water and next 3 ingredients; stir until smooth.
Pour oil to depth of 2 inches into a Dutch oven; heat to 375 degrees. Dip shrimp into batter, and fry, a few at a time, until golden. Drain on paper towels.
This recipe yields 4 servings.
