Mandarins With Lavender And Honey

Type: Fruit
Courses: Dessert
Serves: 4 people

Recipe Ingredients

1/3 cup 78mlMild honey such as orange or star thistle
1 teaspoon 5mlDried lavender or 6 stalks of
  Fresh lavender blossoms
3   Satsuma or other seedless mandarins

Recipe Instructions

Warm the honey, and if you are using the dried lavender, crush it and add it to the honey. Remove the mixture from the heat and let it steep until it has a nice lavender flavor, about 30 minutes. Strain the honey before serving.

Peel the mandarins, and with a very sharp knife, cut them into 1/4-inch-thick slices. Arrange the slices, slightly overlapping, on dessert plates. Drizzle the honey over the mandarin slices. If you have fresh lavender, gently pull the tiny blossoms from the stalks and strew them over the mandarin slices.
