Rasam Podi - Rasam Powder

Recipe Ingredients

2 1/2 cups 275g / 9.7ozCoriander seeds
1 1/2 cups 355mlRed chillies
1/2 cup 31g / 1.1ozBlack peppercorns
3/4 cup 177mlRed gram dal - (pigeon peas, toor dal), picked
  Over and rinced
4 tablespoons 60mlBengal gram dal - picked over and rinsed
  (yellow split peas - channa dal)
1/2 tablespoon 7.5mlCumin seeds
1 teaspoon 5mlGround turmeric
1   Curry leaves

Recipe Instructions

In a heavy saucepan, dry-roast all the ingredients seperately, until they each give off a strong aroma. (However do not roast the Ground turmeric.) Place all the ingredients in an electric blender or food processor. Blend into a fine powder. Store in an airtight container and use as required. Makes 15 ounces.
