Recipe Ingredients

2 lbs 908g / 32ozLean ground round
1 1/2 cups 93g / 3.3ozChopped onion
1/2 cup 73g / 2.6ozChopped green bell pepper
2   Garlic - minced
2/3 cup 157mlWater
1/2 cup 118mlNo-salt-added catsup
2 tablespoons 30mlPrepared mustard
2 teaspoons 10mlChili powder
1 1/2 teaspoons 7.5mlGround cumin
1/2 teaspoon 2.5mlSalt
1/4 teaspoon 1.3mlPepper
16 oz 454gNo-salt-added tomato sauce - (2 cans)
15 oz 426gBlack beans - (1 can) drained
14 oz 397gNo-salt-added whole tomatoes - (1 can)
  Drained and chopped
6 oz 170gTomato paste - (1 can)
1 1/2 oz 42gHamburger buns - (13)

Recipe Instructions

Cook first 4 ingredients in a large Dutch oven over medium heat until browned, stirring to crumble. Remove mixture from pan; drain and pat dry with paper towels.

Wipe drippings from pan with a paper towel.

Return meat mixture to pan. Add water and next 10 ingredients; stir well. Bring to a boil; cover, reduce heat, and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Yield: 13 servings (serving size: 1 bun and 2/3 cup meat mixture).

Serving Ideas : Serve with hamburger buns.
