Quick White Sauce Recipe - Cooking Index
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Butter |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Flour |
1 cup | 237ml | Milk or half and half |
Extras For Added Flavor | ||
Nutmeg | ||
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Chopped parsley |
2 tablespoons | 30ml | Chopped chives |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Lemon juice |
In a one quart sauce pan, over low heat, melt butter.
Add flour and stir for 3 to 4 minutes or until well blended. Stir in milk slowly; cook, stirring constantly until thickened and smooth.
Add one or more of the extras to alter the taste.
Serve over vegetables or fish.
