"Light As A Feather" Cake Recipe - Cooking Index
1/2 cup | 99g / 3.5oz | Shortening |
1/2 cup | 118ml | Boiling water |
1/2 cup | 80g / 2.8oz | Brown sugar |
1/2 cup | 118ml | Molasses |
1 | Egg - beaten | |
1 1/2 cups | 93g / 3.3oz | Flour |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Salt |
1/2 cup | 118ml | Baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Baking soda |
3/4 teaspoon | 3.8ml | Cinnamon |
3/4 teaspoon | 3.8ml | Ginger |
Put shortening in a bowl and pour in boiling water. Add sugar, molasses and egg.
Stir the flour, baking powder, baking soda and spices together.
Add to shortening mixture and beat until mixed well.
Batter will be thin. Pour into greased 8 inch pan.
Bake at 350F for 30 to 35 minutes.
