Bull's-Eye Original BBQ Sauce

1 cup 237mlWater
3/4 cup 246g / 8.7ozLight corn syrup
1/2 cup 118mlTomato paste
2/3 cup 157mlVinegar
1/3 cup 53g / 1.9ozDark brown sugar
3 tablespoons 45mlMolasses
1 1/4 teaspoons 6.3mlLiquid smoke
1 teaspoon 5mlSalt
1/4 teaspoon 1.3mlOnion powder
1/4 teaspoon 1.3mlFreshly-ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon 1.3mlGround mustard
1/8 teaspoon 0.6mlPaprika
1/8 teaspoon 0.6mlGarlic powder
1   Cayenne

Recipe Instructions

Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan over high heat and whisk until smooth. Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 45 minutes or until thick.

After the sauce cools you can use it immediately, but it's best to store it in a covered container in the refrigerator overnight where the flavor improves.

This recipe yields 1 1/2 cups.
