| 1 cup | Chana dal * | |
| 2 tablespoons | Grated coconut | |
| 2 tablespoons | Chopped coriander leaves | |
| 3 | Green chiles - slit | |
| 1 x | Hing (asafetida) | |
| 1/2 teaspoon | Rai (mustard seed) | |
| 3/4 teaspoon | Jeera (cumin) | |
| 2 tablespoons | Oil | |
| Salt - to taste |
* boiled so that the dal is separate
Heat oil, add rai and when it splutters add hing, jeera and slit green chiles. Fry for 2 minutes, then add chana dal, salt and peas. Stir. Cook for 5 minutes.
While serving, garnish with grated coconut and chopped coriander leaves.
