2 cups | 125g / 4.4oz | All-purpose flour |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Cinnamon |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Baking soda |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Salt |
4 cups | 948ml | Tart apples - cored/ peeled/ slice |
(Mcintosh or Crispin) YOGURT GLAZE | ||
1 1/2 cups | 355ml | Plain nonfat yogurt |
Or vanilla nonfat yogurt | ||
3 tablespoons | 45ml | Brown sugar - or to taste |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Vanilla |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Lemon juice |
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat egg whites until slightly foamy; add
sugar, applesauce and vanilla. Combine flour, cinnamon, baking soda and
salt in separate bowl; add to applesauce mixture. Spread apples in 13 x 9
inch pan or 9 inch round springform pan sprayed with nonstick cooking
spray. Spread batter over apples. Bake 35-40 minutes or until toothpick
inserted in center comes out clean; cool on wire rack. Stir yogurt glaze
ingredients until smooth. Spread over cooled cake.
