5 cups | 312g / 11oz | Flour |
1 | Yeast | |
1 1/2 teaspoons | 7.5ml | Salt |
3 cups | 711ml | Water |
1/2 cup | 99g / 3.5oz | Sugar |
1/3 cup | 65g / 2.3oz | Shortening |
2 | Eggs |
Dissolve yeast in water, lukewarm. Beat eggs add sugar, salt and shortening. Add flour to make soft dough. Knead well. Let raise in warm place until double in size. Knead down.
Make balls about the size of walnuts, dip them in melted butter then roll in brown sugar and chopped nuts. Place in greased cake pan, preferably deep tube cake pan, criss-cross until pan is half full. Let raise.
Bake in 400F or less according to oven heat until done, about 35 to 40 minutes.
Glaze with powdered sugar. Mix sugar with small amount of water.
