1/2 cup | 99g / 3.5oz | Sugar |
2 cups | 125g / 4.4oz | Cherries--sour best |

1 1/2 cups | 93g / 3.3oz | Flour |
1/2 cup | 99g / 3.5oz | Sugar |
2 teaspoons | 10ml | Baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Salt |
1 | Egg | |
1/2 cup | 118ml | Milk |
3 tablespoons | 45ml | Shortening--melted |
Melt the 1/4 cup margarine in a 9" pan. Add cherries mixed with the 1/2 cup sugar. To make cake, mix the flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, salt, 1 beaten egg, 1/2 cup milk and 3 tablespoons of melted shortening.
Bake about 30 minutes in a 400F oven.
IMMEDIATELY after baking, invert and put on a serving plate!
This is an old recipe of my grandmother's. There were no baking times, oven temperatures and few measurements in the original recipe!
