| 1 cup | 237ml | Masoor dal - which i get |

| 4 | Red potatoes - washed and chopped | |
| 1/2 cup | 118ml | Pearl barley |
| 2 | Onions chopped | |
| 4 | Garlic - minced | |
| 2 cups | 292g / 10oz | Green cabbage - chopped |
| 2 cups | 474ml | Oriental broth-swanson's canned - is great |
| 4 cups | 948ml | Water |
| 2 tablespoons | 30ml | + more to taste curry powder |
| 1 teaspoon | 5ml | Five-spice powder |
| 1 teaspoon | 5ml | Garlic powder |
| 2 tablespoons | 30ml | Soy sauce |
| 4 cups | 640g / 22oz | Cooked rice |
Put all ingredients into the crock pot. Stir well to mix thoroughly. Cover and cook on low for about 8 hours. Serve with the rice -- I like basmati rice -- and mango chutney.
