Sousa Portugese Beans Recipe - Cooking Index
| 2 lbs | 908g / 32oz | Pinto beans |
| 16 oz | 454g | Tomato sauce |
| 1 oz | 28g | Onion chopped (large) |
| 1 | Ham hock | |
| 1 | Garlic | |
| 1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Cloves |
| 1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Cinnamon |
| 1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Nutmeg |
| 1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Chili powder |
| 3 teaspoons | 15ml | Sugar |
| Salt and pepper |
Put beans into large pot and cover with 3 inches of water. Add all ingredients except the sugar and cook until done. Add the sugar. I like to throw in some Linguica sausage when I have it.
