German Style Barbecued Spareribs

Recipe Ingredients

2 tablespoons 30mlButter
1/4 cup 15g / 0.5ozFinely chopped onion
2 tablespoons 30mlDark brown sugar
1/8 teaspoon 0.6mlPepper
1/2 teaspoon 2.5mlSalt
2 tablespoons 30mlPrepared mustard
1/2 cup 118mlCatsup
3 cups 711mlSauerkraut - drained
1 cup 146g / 5.1ozApple - pared, cored and (large) chopped
2 teaspoons 10mlCaraway seeds
3 lbs 1362g / 48ozSpareribs - cut into ribs

Recipe Instructions

1. In a medium-sized, heat-resistant, non-metallic bowl, heat butter in Microwave Oven 30 seconds.

2. Add onion, brown sugar, pepper, salt, mustard, and catsup.

3. Heat, uncovered, in Microwave Oven 3 minutes.

4. In a 3-quart, heat-resistant, non-metallic casserole, place sauerkraut, apple and caraway seeds. Stir to combine thoroughly.

5. Dip each sparerib into sauce and place on top of sauerkraut. Pour remaining barbecue sauce over the top. Heat, covered in Microwave Oven 15 to 18 minutes. Pork should always be cooked to well-done.
