Brown Gravy Recipe - Cooking Index
2 tablespoons | 30ml | All-purpose flour |
3/4 cup | 46g / 1.6oz | Beef consomme |
1/4 cup | 59ml | Water |
1/4 cup | 59ml | Dry red wine |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Ground red pepper |
1/8 teaspoon | 0.6ml | Black pepper |
Place flour in a small bowl. Gradually add the consomme and water, stirring with a wire whisk until blended, set aside.
Bring wine to a boil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, cook 2 minutes. Add flour mixture, and cook 2 minutes or until slightly thickened, stirring constantly with a wire whisk.
Remove gravy from heat, and stir in peppers.
