California Barbecue Sauce Recipe - Cooking Index
| 1/4 cup | 59ml | Vegetable oil |
| 1 | Garlic separated into cloves | |
| 1 | Onion - minced (medium) | |
| 2 | Tomato paste | |
| 36 oz | 1022g | Water |
| 1 1/2 cups | 240g / 8.5oz | Brown sugar - packed |
| 1 | Juice of orange | |
| 1/2 cup | 118ml | Apple cider vinegar |
| 3 tablespoons | 45ml | Light soy sauce |
| 2 tablespoons | 30ml | Liquid barbecue smoke. |
| 2 tablespoons | 30ml | Cayenne |
| 1 tablespoon | 15ml | Black pepper |
In a large, well seasoned, cast-iron Dutch oven with a cover, heat 1/4 cup lid slightly ajar so steam can escape, and simmer 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
