Basic Rye Bread Recipe - Cooking Index
| Medium 1 1/2 Lb Loaf | ||
| 1 cup | 237ml | Water - plus |
| 2 tablespoons | 30ml | Water |
| 2 tablespoons | 30ml | Molasses |
| 1 tablespoon | 15ml | Butter |
| 1 teaspoon | 5ml | Salt |
| 2 1/2 cups | 156g / 5.5oz | Bread flour |
| 1 cup | 62g / 2.2oz | Medium-ground rye flour |
| 2 tablespoons | 30ml | Brown sugar |
| 1 tablespoon | 15ml | Unsweetened cocoa |
| 3/4 teaspoon | 3.8ml | Caraway seed, whole or powdered |
| 2 teaspoons | 10ml | Bread machine yeast |
Place all ingredients in your machine in the order recommended by your machine's manufacturer. Select the Whole Wheat, Grain, Basic or White cycle and press start.
This recipe yields 1 loaf.
