Virginia's Homemade Chili Recipe - Cooking Index

1 | Kidney beans - (15 oz) | |
1 | Onion - chopped (medium) | |
1 | Bell pepper - chopped (small) | |
1 | Tomatoes - (15 oz) | |
1 | McCormick chili seasoning - (1 1/4 oz) | |
1 teaspoon | 5ml | Salt |
1/4 teaspoon | 1.3ml | Freshly-ground black pepper - or to taste |
1 | Tomato sauce - (15 oz) | |
1 cup | 237ml | Water |
In a medium saucepan, brown beef slowly until no pink remains. Pour off fat. Add kidney beans and cook for 10 minutes. Add onion and pepper and cook slowly for 5 minutes. Add tomatoes and chili seasoning packet and cook 5 minutes. Add salt and pepper and cook 2 minutes. Add tomato sauce and water and cook slowly, about 30 minutes.
This recipe yields 4 servings.
