Nua Pad Prik (Chile Beef)

Recipe Ingredients

3/4 lb 340g / 11ozBeef steak - (rump or sirloin)
1/4 teaspoon 1.3mlSalt
1/2 teaspoon 2.5mlBlack pepper
2 tablespoons 30mlOil
4   Garlic - crushed
2   Green chilies - sliced
1   Fresh red chile - sliced
1 teaspoon 5mlSugar
1 tablespoon 15mlFish sauce (nam pla)
1 tablespoon 15mlBasil heaped - chopped or
1 tablespoon 15mlFresh coriander - chopped

Recipe Instructions

Trim off fat and slice beef into pieces about 2 inches square and 1/2 inch thick.

Season with salt and pepper. Heat oil and fry crushed garlic, then add beef and fry on both sides until well browned.

Add chilies, fish sauce and sugar.

Stir and simmer on moderate heat for 5 minutes, turning meat occasionally.

Stir in chopped herbs and spoon onto a serving dish.
