| 1 1/4 cups | 247g / 8.7oz | Sugar |
| 1 cup | 198g / 7oz | Butter |
| 4 tablespoons | 60ml | Buttermilk - dissolved with |
| 1 teaspoon | 5ml | Soda |
| 1 cup | 237ml | Blackberry jam |
| 2 cups | 125g / 4.4oz | Flour |
| 1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Cinnamon |
| 1/2 teaspoon | 2.5ml | Allspice |
| 4 | Eggs | |
| Icing | ||
| 6 tablespoons | 90ml | Cream |
| 6 tablespoons | 90ml | Butter |
| 2 cups | 320g / 11oz | Brown sugar |
| 1 teaspoon | 5ml | Vanilla |
Mix the first 7 ingredients together, then add eggs one at a time.
Mix well and pour batter into 3 well greased and floured cake pans.
Bake at 350F until done.
Icing: Cook until it forms soft ball in cold water. Beat until thick.
